So Many People Have Asked Just This... Why? Why Now...? Especially Considering Current World Affairs?
Okay, now please don't even start to bring the economy into this! The love of a fine woman (or women) is timeless, especially if she is [they are] Asian!

I'm sorry, but when it comes to traveling the world, there are no better women anywhere than in the Orient. Sure, other cultures may have their individual benefits, but as an all-around whole, Asian women are where its at. While I, personally, may only still be in my mid-20s, I have interacted enough with plenty of older businessmen throughout my travels, and most are shocked that I, at this "young" age, have already come to realize what they already know: there are no better women than Asian women!

Now I am sure, for every hundred people out there whole totally agree, who are just now seeing the light, there is bound to be at least one or two upset and pissed off people, getting offended because of one thing or another that I have said. Well, what do you expect me to say? That's just my comedy style. Hell, that is comedy as a whole. What some people view as funny, others view as insulting; that's the way it has always been, that's the way it will always be. [Unless you are Jeff Foxworthy]

But this page, this site, is not meant to be comedic, not meant to be taken as a joke. It is intended to be informative and entertaining, with a li'l humor sprinkled in occasionally, purely for comedic purposes--nothing else! This site was started with nothing but the best intentions: solely to document my travels throughout Asia, sometimes accompanied by my good friend Jared. What it blossoms in to remains to be seen...
First Attempts
As Jared and I both love the Asian cultures, we wanted to hit somewhere spectacular, like no where else on earth. Both having done fairly extensive research on the Japanese culture as a whole, and more specifically on the great city of Tokyo, the two of us also had a life goal of visiting Tokyo, Japan. Then, in early 2007 one of our friends, a gentleman named Byron, landed a cush job working at the Hyatt at The Domain here in Austin, Texas. The first thing he did was come to us and explain that 1) he watched a video filmed in the Tokyo Park Hyatt, the nicest Hyatt in the world, and 2) he gets a half-price discount to any Hyatt in the world.

Needless to say, all it took was a couple beers and about an hour before we had it all planned out. We would spend two weeks at the Tokyo Hyatt in late August 2007, renting a double with Byron's discount and just sneaking the third person in. Before long Byron placed our reservation and things started to progress.

However, things did not go as planned. None of us were adequately prepared. Jared and I did both had expired passports. Not a single one of us was saving enough money. And to top it all off, two months before the trip, Byron got fired from his job at the Hyatt. While technically I suppose he still had the reservation, with us being young and inexperienced at round-the-globe travels, the only way we were going to be able to afford the trip to an expensive city like Tokyo was if our room was at a 50% discount--and that discount was gone along, with Byron's main source of income.

So that was that. The three of us never made it to Tokyo in 2007, despite all our insistence that we were going to follow through, that we were completely commited... We had failed.

But I was not content with failure. I never have been, and I never will be. It's how I know I will make something of my life. I decided I was going to Tokyo for sure in 2008, and I told Jared he was coming with me, he did not have a choice.
Tokyo... Finally!
It was during the final couple days Stateside before that first trip to Tokyo that I purchased the domain name shibuyadaze.com and hastily scripted together a decent-looking site in less than 48 hrs. We wanted somewhere we could post our pictures and videos and host our blog without worries about offending anyone or risking any sort of backlash or negative repercussions. [FB/MS 0, D4R 1]

Well, needless to say, the site took off; we had something like 3,000 hits the first month we were gone--friends, family, coworkers, everyone. And it was good to have a nice convenient way to stay up to date with everyone, in one place--fuck all that updating MySpace, updating FaceBook, updating Twitter, updating Tagged,... none of that bullshit--no way am I going to be part of that game. [FB/MS 0, D4R 2]

Since then, since that initial success, I have just been trying to figure out a way to keep things fresh, to keep adding additional features that would be interesting and appealing to our viewers. And honestly, let me tell you, with my laziness when it comes to keeping this site updated, well, that becomes a really fucking hard chore. But I am trying...
The End Result
So ever since our first Tokyo trip and the subsequent creation of Shibuya Daze, I have tried to at least partially document each of my visits to the Orient on this site--and wow how horribly have I failed! Some trips I have been too busy to even bother mentioning; other trips I start off taking hellacious amounts of photos, only to over-do it and get tired of taking pics three or four days into the trip. In addition, updates to a web site take more time that FaceBook or MySpace does [damn, FB/MS 1, D4R 2], so many times I get tired of wasting my vacation time in a new country hunched over my laptop like some douche on the clock. Once again, updates fail. I just don't know what to do, short of setting up some PHP scripts, but fuck all that time and effort on just a lil hobby... Maybe one day.

At least, on the plus side, I did improve the basic scripting to the site. I got rid of the old script-intensive and slow-to-load JavaScript pic-rollover menu in favor of a sleek and trim DHTML menu; additionally, I re-did the layout to minimize the amount of necessary images and scripting required, so updates will be faster and easer--just still no fun (could not do anything about that).

But as nice as the site improvements have been the last year, I have regretfully gotten so lazy and so far behind on my updates. Not only that, but I have fallen into a fucking rut with my travels. For you see...

Recently, somewhat to my dismay, I have been stuck returning to the Philippines every time I make it over to that corner of the world. Honestly, I don't really know what I have gotten myself into, but apparently--keep in mind, apparently--I have a Filipina girlfriend over there. I know, I know, news to me too... How drunk was I, right?

But anyway, she has proven to be a sweet little girl, completely innocent and in her first "relationship" ever, and while I still keep breaking her heart, she just will not let me go. She is too good for me, and I have told her this time and time again... But for some reason [American?!?] she does not want to give up on me, does not want to lose faith in me... Damn. What do I do now?

So, if some of you should wonder why bits of the information here and there are a little lacking, or the pictures are occasionally posted late, well now you know. And if you wonder who this lil Asian girl is with me in so many of these pictures, now you know. Yep, now you know.......
